Weed Watching

Kolelemook Weed Watchers Summary

Because it is impossible to check every boat entering Kolelemook, a weed watchers program is a very effective way to check the lake to make sure that no invasive plant species have come into the lake. Volunteer weed watchers are assigned a section of the lake to monitor regularly so that if an invasive species is identified, it can be dealt with immediately.
The good news is that no invasive plant species have been found in Kolelemook Lake and our objective is to keep it that way!

Thanks to our existing Weed Watcher Volunteers. Of course we can always use more volunteers to be sure we are monitoring the entire lake effectively. Please consider taking part.

Kolelemook's Weedwatcher Coordinator is Currently VACANT.  We need a new volunteer! You will go out with new volunteers initially to demonstrate what to do. You don’t need to be knowledgeable about aquatic plants to do this. You’ll be given laminated pictures of the native plants you would expect to find in your assigned area so that you can recognize the “good” plants that you want to see there, as well as pictures of the invasive species that we don’t want to see.

Please call (603-763-9286) or email me geraldlcooper@gmail.com if you have questions or would like more information.

You can be, KLPA's weed watchers coordinator!
