KLPA Programs

KLPA members volunteer their time and resources to ensure  those who use the lake care for its future and contribute to its conservation.

In this effort KLPA members staff our preservation programs, including:

  • Lake Host
  • LakeSmart
  • Water Sampling, and
  • Weed Watching

KLPA also sponsors community events on the lake such as the Family Fishing contests on Springfield Old Home Day and various social activities.
Among the most important elements in the preservation of any New Hampshire lake are care taking the watershed and the shoreline.  Kolelemook is located in the same watershed as Eastman Lake.  Our focus is the primary watershed feeds to Kolelemook Lake.

  • For example in 2008 we worked with the New Hampshire Department of Transportation to establish a low roadway salt application zone on the roadways adjacent to the lake.  Since then the conductivity levels in the lake have been falling indicating lower chloride content in the water.
  • While the Lake Association has been urging members who own shoreline property to heed recommendations for property management and landscaping to control runoff into the lake, much remains to be done.
